Back home again...

Thank you, Dundee! Christopher Murray organised a rather spiffy event for us; one that travel complications could not spoil. I met some fascinating people from totally different ends of the industry - the academic web being weaved around the comics industry was pretty eye-opening.

So many fab people were there, where can I possibly begin? Well, I can't, but it was lovely meeting people like Ian Hague, David Bishop and Alan Grant for the first time, and of course it was wonderful catching up with the likes of Warren Ellis, Mel Gibson, Gary Erskine and Al Ewing. Seriously, there were just too many people to list them all, but much fun was had. I look forward to seeing what Dundee offers up next time!

Hi Emma,

Your talk at the Dundee Literary Festival on Sunday was the highlight of my day! I loved your enthusiasm. I've written a short summary on my blog, which is about writing. I thought some of the things you said were very pertinent to writers and would be interesting for people who want to write graphic novels themselves. After hearing your talk I borrowed two Manga Shakespeare books from the library and am looking forward to reading them. Thanks!

Helen

Thank you so much, Helen! I'm so glad you found the talk useful and wow - you even picked up some Manga Shakespeare after it, fab! Which titles did you go for? I had a really great weekend. It was certainly eye-opening, and you're absolutely right - you didn't need to already be a comics nut to enjoy it, I'm sure! ^_^

I got Richard III and Romeo and Juliet. There weren't any of yours in the library - sorry! - but I'll check again later in case they were on loan.
