Comments: Dragon Heir - Chapter #4

Hey hey, folks! Freshly back from Lucca comic con at 5am this morning (okay, not so fresh), but I couldn't leave poor Protus hanging, so please enjoy chapter 4 and head back here to let me know your thoughts in the comments - I get lonesome, you know?

Looking good: some excellent establishing shots to indicate change of scene, good full figures (love the cat on the first page) and not too many head shots (although I'm not so sure about the 'repeat angle' on the last page - maybe pull in more in the last frame?

Good use of multiple angles, too (for example, last page, panel 2) and strong figure work and inking on clothes, often a failing for some artists.

One small technical point - even on zoom, the whispered balloons on page one are still too small for me to read (probably all right for people under 30 though!)

That's one heck of a beer mug he's got there!
New stuff looks Grrrrreat! Keep it coming Emma.
I have to admit seeing DH in this new light has clarified the plot amazingly! Definately worth the effort, it's looking beautifully professional^^

Good stuff. Although I'm getting the feeling this would be more fun/easier to read in print (not that it isn't fun to read).

Weee - thanks so much, guys! Company in my blog is always appreciated ^_^

John - thanks for the feedback. The page size is definitely an issue; those whispered voices ware far too small; sorry about that!

Mimi - wooot, I'm glad it's all feeling a bit more clear this time around. It's weird even for me seeing the same story told so differently ^_^

Will - yep - you got me on that. this is definitely a comic designed for print more than web. I'll be printing a collected volume in time, you can be sure! I hope you can handle reading it online until then ^_^

Enjoying the story - you're good at cliff-hangers! :)

My novel is back to updating with one new chapter per week from now until The End [of Volume 1], if you're interested.

Point sizes for print (8-9), web (12-14) and mobile (16-18) are a nuisance. If you were posting this on your site (maybe you are) you could always stick an image map over the whisper balloons so that when someone rolls over it, a popup with a .jpg offering a larger size of them appears. The only problem there, of course, is that most people try to prevent op ups!

If you go to this Greatcoat page and scroll over the heads in the final panel, most are linked to other strips or other places on the net. On a PC the ALT tag is displayed, usually, but not on a Mac.

I've been following this since the first couple chapters but just now getting around to commenting. This is a great comic! From the very beginning what really grabbed me is an implied rich culture and history in this world. It truly seems to be the start of something epic. I really like the art as well, it has some bits of classic manga style but there's a uniqueness to it too.

I've got your blog plugged into google reader to make sure I don't miss when the new ones come out. Thanks for sharing your work!

Thanks again, John, very helpful stuff ^_^

And Johnzo - wow! Your comment means a lot. I'm so happy that you feel a sense of something big. It does become a pretty epic tale which goes in some unexpected directions, but it's always hard to start out on such a big story and make people feel involved. I really hope you enjoy where it goes. ^_^

I took 1 st http://lowest-rate-loans.com when I was very young and that supported my family a lot. Nevertheless, I require the small business loan again.
