Phew - checking in. Bristol/CNI/MCM - oh, my!

Oh LORDY! What a manic couple of weeks. I've barely had a moment at my desk and now I have just a few days before I head to Derry's 2D festival...somewhere around here are a pile of comics I should be drawing. '^_^ And I know I missed uploading Dragon Heir yesterday too - I'm so sorry! It's on its way today, folks.
So - last weekend was Bristol Comic Expo, where I had a lot of fun chilling with fabulous friends and fellow creators. I also hosted a panel on Podcasting, which was really good fun and informative for me, since I don't know a whole lot about the inner workings of that side of the industry.
Also at Bristol, Jimmy Aquino of Comic News Insider caught up with me for a chat about work, which you can find here amongst other interviews from the show:
I should warn you, I've not listened to either just yet - so I can't guarantee that I don't make a total tit of myself, haha. XD

And then, this weekend just gone was of course the London MCM Expo. This event always wipes me out, but what an event it was - and the ComicVillage couldn't have made me prouder to be a part of it. Thanks to EVERYONE who made the show so very special!

Right - best crank up the comic-making equiptment while I can!

Bristol and Dragon Heir and Eagles, oh my!

Woo - this weekend was the Bristol Comic Expo. I was going along without a table, more to relax and enjoy the show - and enjoy it I did! I had a great time with great friends and some new faces too. I can't begin to list everyone I spoke to, but you know who you are and you're all fab! *hug* Missed some of my regular buds who weren't in attendence, but I got to talk to some creators I've always meant to, so it balanced out. ^_^

When I got back I found out that the Eagle Award nominations are up for this year, and Dragon Heir has been nominated for Favourite British Black and White comic book!!!!! ZOMG! There are some great creators nominated and I'm chuffed to be up there with them. If you're a Dragon Heir reader who wants to help it become an award winner, the link for voting is here! Click and get involved with choosing your comic heroes, whether Dragon Heir or otherwise. I'm thrilled; thank you to those who nominated Dragon Heir to get it to this stage!
And talking of Dragon Heir - I suppose we should throw up episode 33, eh? :)

Marvel Girl Comics #2

I just got an email from Abby Densen, the writer I was lucky enough to work with for my Marvel short, letting me know that apparently our story 'Ad Vice' was pushed forward to issue #2 instead of its scheduled slot in issue #3. What this means is that it's already out!

Erk - I need to go collect my comic bag at my local, but with cons every weekend for a few weeks, it's tricky....I wish I'd known sooner, but there you go, chaps. If you can, go get hold of a copy! Weird to think it's out there.....

Telling Tales: the new Sweatdrop anthology!

We've been crazy excited about announcing this, and it's finally time!Sweatdrop Studios presents you with a collection of tales adapted from stories well-loved and time-tested. Contained within these pages you'll find fables from near and far; some will shock, some will surprise and some will make you smile. Sweatdrop's artists have scoured the globe for stories that have inspired and touched them in some way, and we hope that they'll do the same for you.

Magic, greed, love, friendship, loss and punishment – fairytales have always encompassed a haunting mix of the fantastical and macabre. This anthology, perfect for bed-time reading, will capture all of that and more in Sweatdrop’s expected variety of styles and approaches; and the group are thrilled to be joined in this special book by guest creator Svetlana Chmakova(NightSchool/Dramacon).

Featuring Svetlana Chmakova, Emma Vieceli, Joanna Zhou, Irina Richards, Rebecca  Burgess, Marubelle Sinclaire, Sonia Leong & Faye Yong.

We'll be launching the book at the upcoming London MCM Expo event, so come and find us in the ComicVillage!

Events over the next few weeks.

Wow, suddenly con-season begins again! So, where can you find me over the next few weeks?

22nd/23rd May - Bristol Comic Expo - Always good fun and great company. You should be able to find me hanging around the bar (drinking tea!) or at the SelfMadeHero stand. On the Sunday I'll be hosting a podcast panel at the Mercure, which should be a laugh, so come and check that out! ^_^

29th/30th May - London MCM Expo - Always an exhausting event for me as I also manage the ComicVillage there. As always, the area is 'by comickers for comickers' and is all about promoting mixing and mingling between all styles and all levels. This one is no exception and will be immense fun. I'll be running around like a mad person, but you should catch me at the Sweatdrop area (promoting a new something!), the SelfMadeHero stand or at the ComicVillage info desk.

5th/6th June - 2D Watch out, Ireland, I'm coming your way! I'll be attending the Derry 2D comic festival as a guest, so feel free to come bug me for sketches or a chat ^_^

That'll do for now, I think. I hope to see some of you at these shows. Don't be a stranger ^_^

Dragon Heir - Chapter 32

Ciao a tutti! I'm uploading this chapter from my Mother's laptop in Italy! (thank you dropbox!).

So begins issue 8, originally printed in 2009. This issue was the first thing I did after finishing my work on Much Ado About Nothing, so it benefits from what I learned during that project. I hope you enjoy it! ^_^
